Strengths Discovery Programme

Gallup's research as well as numerous other studies conducted over the last few years, have repeatedly shown that today's employees want more. They want a meaningful culture, a good manager, and the chance to work and grow using their unique strengths. When these conditions are present, organisations experience higher levels of employee engagement leading to improvements in retention, productivity, customer engagement, safety and profitability.

Gallup has investigated the nature of human talents and strengths for more than 50 years. Gallup has interviewed approximately 2 million people - the best teaches, doctors, lawyers, managers, salespeople, software programmers, and other professionals - and has discovered what made them successful. Gallup research shows that individuals progress more rapidly in their areas of strength than in their areas of weakness. Unfortunately, many training and development approaches focus too heavily on making improvements in areas of weakness.

Business research in change management and organisational process design has shown that sustained, successful change can be modelled and repeated, but only if the change strategy reaches deep into the organisation and touches individual employees in a meaningful way. Many of the change and improvement methodologies used by organisations today are not based on this crucial concept. As they do not engage the hearts and minds of all employees in the organisation, they fail. The Gallup Strengths Development Programmes help to overcome these barriers.

Discovering your Strengths - Applying them at work

Gallup scientists have been studying the field of people's natual talents and strengths for over 50 years. They have found that most people use their innate talents unconsciously, and that they could be overcoming "non talents" by applying what comes natually more consciously. In this way, leaders, managers and staff can become more competent in the areas which do not come naturally (i.e. people interaction and management for highly talented technical people, finance management for people highly talented in interpersonal ineractions).

Strengths Discovery

Helping leaders to become more conscious of their innate talents, which combined with skills and knowledge, develop into true personal strengths. Each leader would:

  • take part in the Clifton StrengthsFinder on-line assessment (35 minutes' investment on line)
  • a one-hour coaching call with a Gallup Strengths consultant to help you to focus on using your talents even more consciously to make the most of an opportunity at work or to confront a challenge more elegantly
  • coaching includes how to manage your "non-talents" and grow your competency in areas that do not come naturally to you;
  • 12 months' access to an E-learning site that will give you practical information about managing others with different talents (up-line and down-line) and more consciously applying your own

Team Strengths Workshop

The leadership team has the opportunity to further explore individual talents and strengths and how they are manifested in the work place and explore the application of the individually-based concepts to the team as a whole. This half-day workshop enables the leadership team to gain greater insights into one another's talents and strengths, how they can leverage off one another's strengths, and how to give engaging feedback to one another and their subordinates based on strengths as well as deficiencies.
